Ingredients:

  • 2 large Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples (approx. 1 lb / 450g), cored and sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon sugar
  • 1 pinch sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Slice the apples into uniform 1/4-inch rounds to ensure consistent softening.
  2. Toss the apple slices in lemon juice immediately after cutting to prevent oxidation and add zest.
  3. Heat butter over medium-high heat in a large non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan until bubbling, then arrange apple slices in a single layer.
  4. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until the edges turn a translucent gold and centers soften.
  5. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar and sea salt evenly over the slices.
  6. Reduce heat to medium and stir gently for another 2 minutes until the sugar melts into a velvety mahogany-colored syrup. Remove from heat immediately.
