Ingredients:
- 2 large Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples (approx. 1 lb / 450g), cored and sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp cinnamon sugar
- 1 pinch sea salt
Instructions:
- Slice the apples into uniform 1/4-inch rounds to ensure consistent softening.
- Toss the apple slices in lemon juice immediately after cutting to prevent oxidation and add zest.
- Heat butter over medium-high heat in a large non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan until bubbling, then arrange apple slices in a single layer.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until the edges turn a translucent gold and centers soften.
- Sprinkle cinnamon sugar and sea salt evenly over the slices.
- Reduce heat to medium and stir gently for another 2 minutes until the sugar melts into a velvety mahogany-colored syrup. Remove from heat immediately.
