Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm whole milk (110°F)
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 3.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 0.5 tsp flaky sea salt

Instructions:

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Whisk gently and let sit for 5–8 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter, egg, and salt. Gradually mix in 3 cups of flour. Knead with a dough hook for 5 minutes until the dough is tacky but pulls away from the bowl sides.
  3. Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm spot for 45–60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down dough and divide into 12 to 15 equal pieces. Shape into smooth balls and place in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  5. Bake at 375°F for 12–15 minutes until the tops are golden brown.
  6. Whisk together 2 tablespoons of melted butter and 1 tablespoon of honey. Brush over warm rolls and finish with flaky sea salt.
