Ingredients:

  • 2 cups pancake mix
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1 quart vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 30 standard Oreo cookies

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the pancake mix, milk, egg, and 2 tsp vegetable oil until lumps are mostly gone, ensuring the batter is thick enough to coat a spoon.
  2. Heat 1 quart of vegetable oil in a deep pot until a thermometer reads exactly 375°F (190°C).
  3. Dip an Oreo into the batter, rotating for full coverage, and gently drop it into the hot oil.
  4. Fry for 2–3 minutes, turning once, until the crust is mahogany-colored and crisp.
  5. Remove the Oreos with a spider strainer and place them on a wire rack for one minute to drain.
  6. Transfer the warm Oreos to a plate and generously dust with powdered sugar.
