Ingredients:

  • 115g unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 200g granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg (50g), room temperature
  • 5ml pure vanilla extract
  • 30g unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
  • 65g all-purpose flour
  • 1.5g baking soda
  • 1.5g salt
  • 130g semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar.
  2. Add the egg and vanilla extract, whisking vigorously for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
  3. Sift in the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Using a spatula, gently fold the ingredients together until just combined.
  4. Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 9–11 minutes. Remove from the oven when the edges are set but the centers still look slightly underbaked and soft.
