Ingredients:
- 1.5 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 0.75 cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Cream of Tartar
- 0.5 tsp Sea Salt
- 0.75 cup Skim Milk
- 4 tbsp Melted Grass-Fed Butter
- 0.5 cup Light Brown Sugar, packed
- 1 tbsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1.25 cups Boiling Water
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease your baking dish.
- Whisk the 1.5 cups flour, 0.75 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar, and sea salt in a medium bowl. Note: This ensures the leavening is evenly distributed.
- Stir in the 0.75 cup skim milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.
- Spread the batter into the prepared pan. It will be thick and sticky, so use a spatula to push it to the edges.
- Mix the 0.5 cup brown sugar and 1 tbsp cinnamon in a small bowl until uniform.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top of the raw batter. Note: Do not stir this in!
- Pour the 1.25 cups boiling water gently over the back of a spoon onto the sugar layer. The pan will look like a muddy mess, but trust the process.
- Bake for 45 minutes until the top is golden and the center feels springy.
- Remove from the oven and let it sit for at least 10 minutes. This allows the sauce to thicken.
