Ingredients:
- 12 oz wide egg noodles
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 1/4 cups cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella or sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add egg noodles and cook for 2 minutes less than the package directions until al dente.
- Drain the noodles in a colander and return them to the pot or a mixing bowl.
- While the noodles are still warm, stir in the sour cream, cottage cheese, Parmesan, onion powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and diced onion, cooking until the beef is browned and onions are translucent.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened, then stir in the oregano.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Transfer half of the creamy noodle mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Spoon the savory beef mixture over the noodles in an even layer.
- Top with the remaining creamy noodles.
- Cover the top with shredded mozzarella or sharp cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 20 minutes until cheese is bubbling. Optionally, broil on high for the final 2 minutes for a crispy crust.
