Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100g) light brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated white sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups (210g) white whole wheat pastry flour
- 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
- 1/2 tsp (3g) sea salt
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper to ensure a non-stick surface and an even bake.
- Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar in a large bowl until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Stir in the white whole wheat pastry flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix on low speed just until the flour streaks disappear.
- Fold in the chocolate chips by hand.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough (about 1.5 oz / 42g each) and place them 2 inches apart on the sheets.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes. Look for edges that are golden brown while the centers still look slightly soft and underbaked.
- Remove from the oven immediately; the residual heat will finish the cooking process on the hot pan.
